Jewelry that tells a story. Vinciane's art is dreamlike, filled with luxury, individuality, and the eclectic use of colour, light and gold. Her work evokes timeless emotions, provocative visions, and glittering passions.
Her collection reflects not only her upbringing in Belgium, but her constant forays to the Congo, where her father`s family lived for generations cultivating the coffee bean. Her mother, a modern day fauvist, introduced her to the color-dashed obsessions of Matisse, Braque and Pollock. She evokes these palletes for their emotional force in her creations.
"My passion for jewelry began when, in the light of eighteen birthday candles, I made myself a Tahitian pearl choker with a ruby, emerald, and diamond butterfly. Soon thereafter I visited the Pink City of Jaipur and discovered the great ancient tradition of Indian jewelers. I purchased my first stones - some exquisite old Burmese spinels and tourmalines that seemed to represent every colour imaginable - and in doing so, found my vocation. Now my time is joyfully divided between my London home, my Manhattan showroom, and my workshop in Jaipur. My greatest pleasure comes from handpicking the stones for my designs from the Gem Palace; court jewelers to the Maharaja`s for centuries and curators of one of the largest gemstone collections in the world. All my pieces are handmade, combining the bright colours of beautiful stones with the glow and warmth of twenty-two karat brushed gold."
Every single detail in Vinciane`s creations is carefully considered. As in the making of a violin, a painting, or a piece of blown glass, where one can almost feel the fingerprints of the artist`s uniqueness; Vinciane's taste, exposure to different cultures, and knowledge of materials, always lies shimmering beneath the surface. Her aim is to preserve and capture the uniqueness of each stone, like a pearl of rain before it merges with the sea.
Vinciane studied at the Jewelers Studio in NYC and is a Fellow member of the Gemological Association in London (FGA). |
